Youth in Parliamentary Sessions (2002-2005)


Summary
This is a three-year project funded by DFID which started in January 2002. Scheduled to end in 2005, the project is meant to train 120 youths throughout the Tanzania, Mainland and Zanzibar on the conducts of the National Assembly, including the key functions of the Prime Minister and House Speaker. The intention is to equip youths with skills and knowledge on the parliamentary proceeding, how to ask and answer questions, in the view to build their confidence as future leaders.

Progressive report
About 60 youths from different parts of the country have so far attended these sessions. Each participant had already conducted sensitization on theparliamentary activities to at least 30 youths in their respective localities, making a total of 1800 youth beneficiaries. These youths came from regions of Arusha, Mwanza, Manyara, Ruvuma, Morogoro, Coast Region, including youths from Zanzibar and Pemba.
